Developing a Leadership Pipeline
Presenter: Kathleen Innes, Regional Recovery Lead – American Red Cross
Kathleen’s varied career background includes time as a writer, journalist, television director and producer, graphic artist, traditional and social media consultant, college professor, public relations, adult professional training services, music school director and a business owner. Her experience gives her a unique perspective on working with and developing leaders.
Kathleen joined the American Red Cross as a volunteer for the response to Hurricane Katrina in 2005 and has deployed to over 100 disasters across the United States. She has worked in various leadership roles in disasters including Recovery Chief, Assistant Director of Recovery, External Relations Manager, and the many leadership positions that build into those assignments. In blue skies, she has successfully led a recovery team of volunteers and paid staff of over 100 individuals for many years. She has also served as an on-scene leader on many apartment fires and larger disasters across Atlanta and Georgia.
Kathleen has developed many teams including multiple levels of leaders. She has built fully functioning leadership pipelines that ensure there is always a plan for support and coverage.
