Session Description: In this session, participants will deepen their understanding of meaningful volunteer recognition, its significance, why it’s important, the guiding principles, its characteristics, and the different types of recognition that can be offered. Participants will also explore examples of strategies and their application at Para la Naturaleza, and will have the opportunity to share ideas.
Speaker Bio: Alexandra Berríos Feliciano has over 10 years of experience in the nonprofit sector, focusing on natural and cultural resource conservation and climate advocacy. She currently works as a Volunteer and Community Relations Specialist at Para la Naturaleza, coordinating recruitment, training, and volunteer recognition strategies. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Geography and a master’s degree in Cultural Agency, which guide her approach to volunteer engagement as a form of citizen participation, recognizing volunteers as collaborators and leaders for social transformation. Alexandra is also a 2023 AL!VE Presenter Boot Camp Graduate, participated in the AL!VE Mentor Program in 2021, and facilitated this workshop at AL!VE Academy in 2025.
